Joseph A. Downing has been admitted in Ohio since 1998 and has run his own firm in Tipp City since December 2007. Business, litigation, taxation, family law, estate planning, probate and bankruptcy, in his own words. The main line is (937) 667-1900. He does have a website, and that is the problem, because it runs on plain http, prints one phone number in the header and a different one on the contact page, and has not been touched since about 2014.
These are his own headings, not a list of everything a general practice could offer. Nothing on this page claims a result, a specialty or an outcome, because he claims none himself and it would not be right to add them for him. No fees appear either, for the same reason. Anything specific about your own situation is a conversation on (937) 667-1900, and none of this page is legal advice.
Business matters generally, and his own navigation breaks out three groups underneath it: medical, dental and veterinary. Professional practices have their own structures, partners and problems, and it is unusual for a small town firm to name them separately like that.
Wills, estates and probate, both named on his own site. He also sits on the Dayton Bar Association's Estate and Trust Committee, which is on his own biography page and is the closest thing to a stated focus he publishes.
Listed under litigation on his own navigation, with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 broken out as separate entries. What Chapter applies to any given situation is a question for him, not for a web page.
Taxation is a top level heading on his own site, sitting beside business and estate planning rather than tucked underneath either. That grouping tends to matter when a business, an estate and a tax question all turn up at once.
Family law is named on his own site both in the navigation and on the home page. These are the matters where being twenty minutes away in Tipp City rather than downtown Dayton is worth something on its own.
His own navigation lists disability law with workers' compensation and Social Security disability broken out underneath it. Both are their own systems with their own deadlines, and neither is a good thing to work out from a search engine.
Have a look at what his current site does. It runs on plain http, so every modern browser puts a Not Secure warning in the address bar next to a lawyer's contact form. There is no viewport tag, which means it does not adapt to a phone at all, and it is still built out of layout tables with placeholder cell names left in the markup. No page carries a meta description, so Google writes its own summary. The header says one phone number and the contact page says another. The embedded map was generated in 2014, the copyright line has no year, and the team page shows eight attorneys from a different firm before it gets to his own biography. This page is a demo of the same information, working.
That is the number on the contact page of his own site, on YellowPages, on Justia, on FindLaw and on Yahoo. The (937) 458-3855 in his site header belongs to the Tipp City line of the firm he is of counsel with, which is why the two disagree.
Business, taxation, estate planning, probate, family, disability or bankruptcy. A general practice covers a lot of ground and naming the area early saves the first ten minutes of the call.
One listing says the office opens at 8:00am and another says 9:30am, and neither has been claimed or corrected. If you are planning to turn up in person rather than ring, settle that first.
This page describes what he lists as his areas of work and nothing more. It does not create any attorney client relationship, it does not tell you what to do, and no result is promised anywhere on it.
Joseph A. Downing Co., L.P.A. is at 104 West Main Street, Suite B, in Tipp City, Miami County. He took his B.A. at the University of Dayton and his J.D. at Ohio Northern University in Ada. He was admitted in Colorado in 1996, and in Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1998. He founded this firm in December 2007 and has been of counsel with Arenstein & Andersen Co., L.P.A. since May 2014. He belongs to the Miami County Bar Association, the Dayton Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association, and sits on the Dayton Bar Association's Estate and Trust Committee. Every line of that is taken from his own biography page.
His own website publishes no hours at all, on any page, so both versions of these rows come from third parties. YellowPages says Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Yahoo Local says Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm. Both listings are unclaimed, so nobody at the office has ever confirmed or corrected either. That hour and a half in the morning is exactly the sort of gap that gets somebody standing outside a locked door, so if you are coming in person rather than ringing, settle it first on (937) 667-1900.
The office is at 104 West Main Street, Suite B, in Tipp City, Miami County. Two things worth knowing before you set off. Justia and FindLaw both still print 17 West Main Street, which is a former address and will put you on the wrong part of the street. And the number to ring is (937) 667-1900, not the (937) 458-3855 printed in the header of his current website, which belongs to the other firm he works with.
Say roughly what area it falls in and somebody will come back to you. Please do not put anything confidential or time sensitive in a web form. If there is a deadline anywhere near this, ring (937) 667-1900 instead, and understand that sending a message does not make anyone your lawyer.
No fee, rate or consultation price appears anywhere on this page, because none is published and guessing at one would help nobody. No outcome is promised and nothing here is legal advice. What this page does is set out the areas of work he lists himself, along with where he is and how to reach him.
$49 one time setup, then $79/month, no contract. Hosting, lead capture, traffic tracking, and your own dashboard are all included.
